Mid-Atlantic ridge and rift valleys are formed along divergent plate boundary in which two plates will moves away from each other. Tremendous amount of heat in the mantle causes the magma to rise up breaking the crust on the surface of the earth which forms underwater mountain ranges known as Mid-ocean ridge when the boundary located in the oceanic plate. Rift valley will formed when it is in the continental plate. The sea floor are spreading.
